Quick Fix: Home Improvement Projects that Take No Time to Finish

So, for the first time in a long time you have a free weekend! You look around the house and realize the place is looking drab. Naturally, you want to do something about it – something that could liven the place up! But because you have a very limited time, you are looking for something that is not so time-consuming.

You are in luck! Our team has rounded up for you some quick and easy projects that won’t eat much of your time but still deliver great results! Here they are:

  1. Breathe a little life into your room by painting one wall with a bold colour. Doing so instantly changes the appearance of the whole space. Of course, it would also take a lot less time to finish and cost less, too!
  2. Replace your patio door. You may not know it but a beautiful door can make all the difference in the total look of a space. Yes, this project requires you to call your favorite Home Improvement team for design options and measurements. The replacement itself, though, would only take your George Kent Home Improvement team faster than you can say “Open Sesame!”
  3. Get creative with your switch covers. Often an overlooked feature, you can spruce up your boring switch covers and turn them into attractive decorations. Cover them with decorative fabric, use decoupage, or paint them! Not that artistic? You’ve got an array of options from stores – from antique-looking covers to graphic plastic ones.
  4. Install dimmers for your lamps. Give you home some soft ambient lighting by installing a dimmer cord. It’s pretty simple to do. Plug the cord in to the wall and the lamp into the other side. Just make use of the slide switch to get the right amount of lighting each time you turn it on.
  5. Turn old cabinet doors into DIY chalkboards. You can choose between using chalkboard paint or chalkboard contact paper. Update the look of those faded kitchen cabinets and cupboards and you can use the writeable surface to take note of recipes, grocery lists, notes for the kids, and more.

Small projects like these can quickly turn any room in your house from drab to fab. Got more time for a more exciting home improvement project? How about a window replacement? Or perhaps you can replace your old wooden siding with vinyl. Call George Kent Home Improvement and we’d be happy to help you give your home a makeover, right in time for the holidays!
