Is A Storm Door Necessary?

Do you have a storm door? Do you know why they’re necessary? There are some advantages to having one installed on your front entryway, especially in a Canadian climate. In this blog, the experts at George Kent Home Improvements outline why this addition is necessary.

They Let Light Into Your Home

A storm door can help light up an otherwise dark foyer or entryway. It’s nice to be able to open your main door and let some light in on a sunny day or let your pets bird watch from inside.

They Help Protect Against Bad Weather

During the winter, a storm door acts as a shield from the elements and a barrier to help prevent leaks. When there is strong wind or heavy snow, it’s nice to have that added barrier so you’re not immediately exposed to the elements when you open your front door.

Keeps Bugs Out

A storm door can help to keep out unwanted pests as it acts as another barrier to entry. You can choose to have a screen installed on your door so you can enjoy some fresh air, without the flies and mosquitos!

They Add Character

A storm door can be a stylish way to boost your home’s curb appeal. They’re available in many different styles and finishes, and we can help you find one that fits your personal style and complements your home’s overall aesthetic.

Increase Energy Efficiency

A storm door adds another layer of insulation. It will help to keep heat inside your home. At George Kent, our storm doors are fitted with energy-efficient glass that helps to decrease the sun’s hot rays from entering your home and overheating it in the summer.

They also provide security when they have a lock. As a single lady if someone rang my doorbell I felt comfortable opening my main front door knowing I had a storm door there as a divider in between.
